Storms pile up over the mountains on August afternoons and come east down the valley toward Goose Creek, and for an hour Ashburn smells like wet clay and cut grass. Goode Tree Service and Lawn Care works the hours on either side of that — mowing, trimming and edging in the cool of the morning, then cleanups once the season turns and the creek bottoms fill with color. Loudoun soil grows fescue with real enthusiasm and weeds with rather more, so the schedule is kept instead of guessed at. There is nothing complicated about a lawn cut at the right height on the right day; there is only the difference you can see from the road. That difference is the entire reason for the work.
