Afton sits where the Blue Ridge narrows into Rockfish Gap, and winter there usually arrives wrapped in the mountain's well-known fog. All In Land Services goes to work inside that gray, pushing snow off driveways before first light while the summit is still lost in cloud. Steep grades and switchback lanes are ordinary on this side of the ridge, so every drive is cleared edge to edge, down to bare pavement wherever tires need to grip. When the fog finally burns off and sun pours through the gap, it lands on open driveways and shoveled steps. That is the whole point: a mountain morning you can actually drive out into.
