There comes a morning in November around Abingdon when frost holds on the north side of every yard until noon and the grass finally stops asking to be cut. Winters Mowers works right up to that day and then closes the year out properly — a last mow, the trimming and edging tightened up, leaves and limbs cleared off before the ground goes cold. Through the growing months the same yards get the regular treatment, week after week, out along the roads toward Wyndale and Benhams. Ending a season on a clean lawn is its own kind of order. Come the thaw the grass returns, and so does the mower.
