Long before Woods Cross wakes, Francis Peak is already catching the first gray light above the valley, and that's when Alpine Arborists starts its trucks moving. Storms drop off the Wasatch fast here, the kind that pile up half a foot while the wind off the lake keeps pushing more in behind it. By the time headlights start showing on the frontage roads, driveways and walkways across town are already scraped back to bare concrete, edges cut square, salt down before the ice gets a grip. There's a particular quiet to a street cleared before its owners are even up — no engine left running, just tire tracks pointed straight at the door.
