West Point still keeps enough open ground — sod farms, hay fields, wide gravel lanes — that a winter sky here feels bigger than it has any right to, and on a clear morning after a storm, Antelope Island sits out across the Great Salt Lake like a gray shape surfacing in all that white. Pleasant Outdoor LLC works driveways and walkways scattered wide across that same open ground, where houses sit farther apart than in the denser subdivisions to the south and a plow route means real miles between stops. Geese still move low over the fields some mornings even in the cold, and the crew works underneath them, blade down, clearing gravel lanes and paved driveways alike before the school buses start their own slow loop through the same roads. There's a stillness out here that a storm only deepens — no traffic to speak of, only the drag of a blade over gravel and an occasional honk somewhere overhead. By the time the fields go back to ordinary white and quiet, the driveways along the route sit bare and ready, small dark rectangles cut into all that open land.
