Gardner Village's old mill buildings sit right at the edge of Adair's Landscape's daily loop, their steep roofs catching West Jordan's first snow while the millpond below goes still and glassy under a skin of ice. Even in a landscaping company's slow season, the eye for a clean line doesn't switch off — a shoveled path along the Village's cobblestones gets the same attention a summer flower bed once did, cut straight and swept to the last inch. Cottonwoods behind the old mill wear their snow in heavy white cuffs, and somewhere under all that hush the crew is working driveways and walkways block by block. There's a quiet order to a freshly cleared sidewalk against a yard still buried white, like a sentence with its punctuation restored. By the time shoppers arrive at the Village's shops, the paths sit bare and the snowbanks are stacked tidy at the edges, out of the way.
