Middle Canyon turns gold sometime in October, and a week later the whole east bench of Tooele is ankle-deep in what the canyon sent down. Burton Landscape works that season hard: leaves raked and hauled, lawns given their last few cuts as growth slows, perennials cut back, beds cleared down to bare soil for the cold. Fall is also the right window for planting here, when the ground is still warm and the sun has stopped punishing new roots, so shrubs and trees go in while the mountains take their first dusting. Through the growing months the same yards get their mowing, trimming and edging on a steady turn. It is landscape work measured in years — what goes in this autumn is what shades the lawn a decade from now.
