About Thatcher Landscapes

Out in the farm country of Box Elder County, Thatcher is a scatter of homes and fields where the wind has nothing to stop it, and one winter storm can fold the snow into long drifts across a drive. Thatcher Landscapes, a landscaping business sharing the town's name, handles snow removal here, opening driveways and walkways once the gusts have had their say. The irrigation canals sleep under ice, the stubble fields run white to the horizon, and the mountains stand chalk-pale on the far edge of the valley. Clearing in open country asks for patience with the wind, and the reward is a lane cut from the door to the road, dark against all that white. At midday, with the sun blazing off fresh snow, that cleared drive is the one crisp line on the land.
