The turf on St. George's golf courses and front lawns is built for heat, kept green through summers that would wilt grass almost anywhere else, and a hard frost is the one thing it handles worse than the desert sun. Turf Worx clears driveways and walkways across town on the mornings that happen, careful not to let plowed snow pile onto lawns that don't know what to do with it. Ice melt goes down on steps first, then the walk to the street. Their work is brief by mountain-town standards — most of what falls is gone again by early afternoon — but thorough while it lasts. It's a desert version of the same job done elsewhere in the state, just rarer and over faster.
