August asks a great deal of a lawn in this valley: weeks without rain, sun that comes straight down, and nights that barely cool until the canyon breeze finally slips out after dark. Pure Irrigation mows Sandy yards in the first hours of the day, blades set high so the turf shades its own crowns and holds what moisture it has. Edges are cut sharp along walks and drives, trimming follows every fence line, and the clippings go back to the grass rather than the gutter. Feedings are spaced for the heat, weeds are kept from taking the thin spots, and fall aeration opens the ground so autumn water actually reaches the roots. Come September the color returns, and the summer's patience is right there in the lawn.
