Sandy's Main Street still carries traces of the smelting town it once was, brick storefronts built for a rougher, mining-camp version of this valley. On a late-afternoon snowfall, JAL Enterprise works those older blocks alongside the newer subdivisions further up the bench, clearing sidewalks in front of businesses that have stood there since before the suburbs arrived. The light goes flat and gray this time of day in winter, snow still coming down sideways off the mountains, and there's satisfaction in getting a walk clear before the shops close for the evening. Driveways get scraped, front walks get shoveled, and a coat of salt goes down before the temperature drops again overnight. It's a town with two histories layered on top of each other, and the same crew tends to both of them.
