Sandy took its name from the sandy alluvial soil the mountains washed down onto this bench above the valley, and on a clear winter morning that same slope holds the cold like a bowl, frost settling into driveways before the sun ever clears Lone Peak. Akimoto Sprinklers works those quiet hours, plowing driveways and clearing walkways while the valley below is still dark and the peaks above are already catching first light. There's a particular satisfaction in a driveway scraped down to bare concrete before a household's first commute, the kind of small order that makes a cold morning easier. Ice gets chipped from front steps, walkways get salted, and by the time Sandy wakes up the hardest part of the morning is already behind it. It's plain work, done early, in a town built on a slope that never quite forgets the mountains above it.
