Late on a September afternoon the light comes in low and sideways and every blade of grass on the lawn throws a shadow. Triple J Landscaping likes finishing then — the last mow of the day laid down in even passes, fence lines trimmed, walks and drives edged and blown clear. Through the season it is weekly cutting, weeding, mulching and hedges kept level; at either end of it, the cleanups that open a yard in spring and empty it of leaves in fall. Where the lots run wide and the trees run old, a lawn that stays sharp takes returning, not rescuing. Coming back every week is the entire method.
