About Powder Bird Services

Out past the airport, where the Great Salt Lake's marshes hold thousands of wintering birds against the cold, snow falls differently than it does downtown — quieter, with nothing but open water and reeds to catch it. Powder Bird's crews work the city side of that landscape, plowing the streets and lots that back up against the wetlands before the shorebirds are even stirring for the day. There's a stillness to clearing snow near the lake that the crew has come to prefer, work done in a hush most of the valley never hears. A driveway cleared out there feels less like a chore and more like keeping pace with a place that's still mostly wild at the edges. By midmorning the lots are bare, and the only tracks left in the remaining snow belong to something with wings.
