About Peak Snow Removal

Where Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons open into the valley, the peaks hold snow long after the streets below have gone gray and slushy, a reminder of where all that weather actually comes from. Peak Snow Removal works the neighborhoods closest to those canyon mouths, the first streets to catch the overflow when a storm rolls down off the ridge instead of just dusting the valley floor. Their trucks are usually moving before the canyon road even opens for the ski traffic, clearing driveways so people can get out to work before they get out to the mountain. It's a job that lives in the shadow of real peaks, not a metaphor for them, and the crew treats it that way — practical, early, unromantic about the cold. By the time the first line of ski traffic backs up at the canyon mouth, the streets near it are already bare again.
