About J D Young & Son Landscaping

From most driveways in Roy, Ben Lomond Peak and the rest of the Wasatch Front stand up sharp to the east, catching the first light a good while before it reaches the valley floor, so a dawn plow route here starts in shadow with the mountains already lit gold above it. The bench land east of town holds a little more elevation and a little more cold than the flatter streets closer to the lake, enough that ice sets faster on those blocks and needs breaking up rather than just pushed aside. Working the route east to west follows the light itself, clearing the shadowed high ground first, then moving down onto the lower streets where the sun gets to work sooner and the job goes easier. Every driveway gets the same care regardless of which end of town it's on — blade down to bare concrete, walk shoveled to the door, salt down where the ice keeps trying to reform. By the time full daylight reaches Roy's western edge, the mountains behind town have gone from gold to plain white, and the driveways below are already done.
