Grass first, then snow — the year in Roy divides about that cleanly, and this is work built to cover both halves of it. Warm months mean weekly mowing, edging and trimming, with the clippings cleared off the walk before the truck pulls away from the curb. Then the wind swings around off the Great Salt Lake, lays a band of snow across the west side of the valley overnight, and the job changes shape entirely: driveways and walks opened before the alarm clocks go off, so nobody in the house has to think about it. There is something genuinely satisfying about a cleared drive at five in the morning, black asphalt under a streetlight while the rest of the block is still white. Same yards, same hands, straight through the calendar.
