River Heights sits on a bench above the valley floor, high enough that on a still morning you can look west over rooftops toward the rest of Cache Valley while the Bear River Mountains hold the sunrise behind you. The elevation means the frost forms first and lingers longest, silvering lawns and driveways long after Logan's flatter streets have gone to slush. Clearing a driveway up here often means starting on a slope, working the plow blade at an angle so the push doesn't just slide back down over the curb. The yards along these quiet streets stay tidy through winter the same way they do in summer — walkways scraped to the concrete, the strip by the mailbox kept clear for the carrier. It's small-town work, one address at a time, done early enough that the ice never gets the chance to set. By midmorning the bench is bare while the valley below is still catching up.
