About High Creek Excavation and Landscaping

High Creek comes down out of the Bear River Range just east of Richmond, and on a clear winter morning you can watch its canyon go from shadow to sunlit while the valley floor below stays locked in fog. Cache Valley holds onto its cold that way — the dairies out past town keep running through it, milk trucks needing a clear lane out to the highway no matter what fell overnight. The work here starts before that fog lifts: driveways along the tree-lined streets, the aprons in front of barns, the pull-outs where trucks turn around. Snow off the Bear River Range tends to come heavy and wet, and pushing it clear of a farm gate is a different job than clearing a suburban walk. There's a plain satisfaction in a driveway scraped to bare gravel while the rest of the valley is still white, in knowing the truck got out on time. By afternoon, with the fog burned off and High Creek's canyon in full sun, Richmond's streets carry the marks of a morning's work in long dark stripes on pale ground.
