Provo Snow Removal

About Provo Snow Removal

When a storm drops down off Provo Peak and fills the grid of streets below Center Street, Provo Snow Removal is out working the whole width of town from the river bottoms up toward the bench. This is the job in full, nothing else competing for the crew's attention once the flakes start falling — driveways plowed in sequence, walks shoveled behind them, ice broken up at every step and stoop along the way. The Provo River freezes at its edges some winters, and the same cold that locks up the shallows tends to lock ice onto anything left unsalted for more than a night. Neighborhood by neighborhood, the trucks move from the university side of town toward the lake, squaring off snowbanks at the curb so a plowed street doesn't just become a walled-in one. By the last run of the morning, driveways across town sit open in matching clean lines, however deep the storm went.
