Below the Red Hills, where Parowan's orchard rows go silent and white under a Cedar Breaks storm, the pines and box elders along Center Street carry snow the way they've carried it since before the Old Rock Church went up. Color Country Tree Service works those trees first, clearing branches heavy enough to crack before they land on a fence line or a parked truck, then turns to the driveways below. This is a small enough town that the work follows the same streets the founders laid out, past the Gap where the ancient carvings sit dusted white on cold mornings, down toward the fairgrounds and back. Every plowed drive gets a shoveled walk to match, salted at the step where the shade off a barn keeps the ice from ever quite letting go. Come a break in the weather, the trees stand cleared of their load and the town's short blocks are open end to end.
