About Derek's Lawn and Landscaping Inc.

Old Town yards come in steps. Lots stack up the hillside above Main Street in terraces and switchbacks, with grass in strips no wider than a porch, and Derek's Lawn and Landscaping Inc. carries the mower up to reach them. Mowing, edging and trimming on ground like that is close work — around retaining walls, stair treads, and the narrow side yards between houses that have stood shoulder to shoulder for generations of winters. They aerate and fertilize the small hard-won patches of turf and clear them out each spring and fall. Standing at the top of one of those lots in July, with the whole town falling away below, a tidy strip of green feels like a genuine accomplishment.
