Down along the river bend where Fort Buenaventura's cottonwoods stand bare all winter, snow tends to pile deep and linger longer than it does closer to downtown, shaded as those bottomlands are by the trees and the bluff above them. Scoop Brothers of Greater Ogden takes the name literally, running crews out before the school buses to scoop driveways, walkways, and cul-de-sacs clear across the city. It's a straightforward snow removal operation — shovels, plows, and ice melt, applied in that order, to residential streets across Ogden and out toward Riverdale and Uintah. A cul-de-sac scraped clean in a wide circle, every driveway along it matching, has a tidiness to it that a single house cleared alone never quite gets.
