Elmwood Landscape

About Elmwood Landscape

The older lanes of Pleasant View still carry their big shade trees, and a lawn under them lives a different life than one out in the open — thin in the deep shade, mossy where the sprinkler throw never reaches, stubborn along the roots. Elmwood Landscape reads a yard that way, section by section, at midday when the shadows show exactly where the sun does and doesn't land. Mowing set a notch higher under the canopy, overseeding the bare patches in the cool of the season, feeding on a schedule the trees haven't already outcompeted, trimming close around trunks without scarring bark. Out in the sunny half of the same yard the answer is different, and that is half the craft. By August the whole thing reads as one lawn again, which is the only version of the job worth doing.
