Midvale looks two ways at once, the Wasatch rising sharp to the east, the rounder, mined-out shoulders of the Oquirrhs holding the sunset to the west, and a turf crew working late into a summer evening gets the second view free, gold light laid flat across every lawn they're finishing up. Good turf in this valley means dealing with hard clay soil and a short growing window, aerating and overseeding so grass can actually take hold between one heat wave and the next frost. That frost arrives fast off the western range, and the same crew swaps mowers for plows almost overnight, clearing driveways and lots under the same big open sky. There's a particular pride in turf that stays even and thick despite Midvale's stubborn ground, and in a lot cleared to bare pavement before the morning commute. Both jobs come down to the same thing: paying close attention to a piece of ground the valley itself makes difficult.
