Out past Midvale's old smelter ground, where the reclaimed slag hills of Bingham Junction have slowly turned into new streets and young parkway trees, a tree crew gets to watch a landscape start over. Trees planted in ground like that need real attention in their first years, staking, pruning to a strong shape, watching for stress the reclaimed soil can bring on, and that close early care is where a tree company earns its keep. The same trucks that shape a young maple's canopy in June are plowing and shoveling that same new street in January, because a town rebuilding itself doesn't take winter off. There's something hopeful in tending trees on ground that used to be a mine's leftovers, watching a canopy fill in where there used to be none at all. Midvale's newest blocks are proof that patient work, applied year after year, changes what a place can be.
