Mendon sits with its back against the Wellsvilles, that abrupt wall of a range on the west side of Cache Valley, and the morning light comes across the hay ground from the far side of the valley before it ever reaches the town square. Westridge Landscaping keeps lawns in that valley air — cool nights well into June, a short and generous growing season, grass that runs hard once it finally gets going. Mowing, trimming and edging weekly; fertilization and weed control paced for a place where winter arrives early and settles in; aeration and overseeding while the soil still holds its warmth. Cleanups bookend the year, hauling off what the cottonwoods and the west wind leave behind. By midsummer a lawn here can hold its own against the meadows out toward the marsh.
