There is a wind that comes down out of Green Canyon on June evenings, cool off the high country, and it carries the smell of cut grass halfway across North Logan. Yard Ranger covers ground for a living — a route that runs from the Logan bench up through Hyde Park, Smithfield and Richmond, one yard to the next, all day long. Mowing, string trimming, edging along drives and walkways, blowing everything clean, with feeding, weed control and cleanups layered in as the calendar turns. Grass in this valley makes its big push between the last frost of May and the first one in late September, and the whole schedule is built around that window. What gets left behind at every stop is a yard that plainly looks looked-after.
