The Bear River Range stands so close to the east side of town that Logan gets its sunrise twice — first as pink light landing on the Wellsvilles clear across the valley, then, a while later, as the real thing spilling over the ridge and down into the streets. Sunrise Gardening likes to already be working by then, while the grass is cool and still holding dew and the block belongs mostly to the birds. The work is lawn care done attentively: mowing and trimming, edging along walks and beds, pulling weeds out of the borders, feeding a lawn through the dry stretch of summer, and cleaning up when the seasons hand off. A yard finished in that early hour keeps looking finished the rest of the day. Logan, Hyde Park, North Logan and Smithfield are on the morning route.
