About Rock Creations

Layton's bench drops in a series of low terraces on its way down to the valley floor, and a lot of the retaining walls and boulder work Rock Creations builds into local yards follow that same natural step. Snow behaves differently on those terraces than it does on flat ground — drifting deep against a stone wall, melting fast off an exposed boulder face — and the winter crew has learned to read a yard that way before clearing it. Driveways cut into a hillside lot need a different approach than a flat one, and the company works both, block by block, through the neighborhoods stacked up the bench. There's a particular kind of order in a terraced yard cleared level by level, the stonework showing dark and dry against a field of white. Getting to every step of a yard like that, not just the driveway, is what the job actually asks for.
