Spring arrives early down where La Verkin Creek runs out to meet the Virgin, and the old orchard trees blossom while the high country is still holding its white. Through the growing months it settles into a steady cadence: mowing, string trimming into the corners, fertilization to bring the color up, weed control before the desert weeds get their footing. Aeration and overseeding go down while the nights are still cool, so the roots are set before the valley heat arrives in earnest. A lawn cut and edged on a bright La Verkin morning holds its shape all week, and holding that shape is the whole point.
