About Dirt Monkey's Landscaping LLC
From a Kearns yard, the Oquirrh Mountains rise close enough to the west that the terraced cut of the copper mine on their flank shows plainly even under a fresh snow, a strange geometric white against the older, rounder slopes further south. This crew, busy the rest of the year shaping the flat yards that fill Kearns's streets, switches to driveways and walks when a valley storm comes through, working block by block across a neighborhood built decades ago on what used to be an old air base's runways and barracks lots. The valley floor here holds onto cold air and haze through a long stretch of winter, the kind of still, gray weather that keeps a morning's frost sitting on a driveway well past the hour anyone wants to be scraping it off. Kearns's streets run straight and flat compared to the benches to the east, so the plowing itself is steady work, driveway after driveway, block after block, until the neighborhood is clear. By the time the haze lifts off the valley, most of the driveways on the route are already bare.
