The Rock Place

About The Rock Place

Black basalt caps the ridges above Hurricane, and half the yards in town borrow that stone — rock beds, boulder edges, gravel running right up against the grass. The Rock Place keeps the turf side of that line honest: mowing, edging along the stone, trimming close where a deck simply will not fit. Weed control counts double in this kind of yard, because anything that takes hold in the gravel will make its way to the lawn next. Cleanups pull the drift of leaves and sand back out of the rock so it reads dark again instead of dusty. That line between green and stone, cut clean, is what makes a whole yard look deliberate.
