About Mountain Valley Services

Late in the day, the light in Fairview turns the ranchland east of town a deep copper before it fades, and that's often when Mountain Valley Services is still out, finishing the last driveway on a route that passes frozen irrigation ditches and fence lines strung between the fields. The name fits the work: this end of Sanpete Valley is ranch country first, town second, and most of the addresses on the route are acreages rather than city lots. Snow behaves differently across open grazing land than it does downtown, drifting along fence lines and pooling in the low draws between pastures, so the crew checks the fences before it ever puts a blade to the driveway behind them. By the time evening chores are done at each place, the lane in is already clear, headlights catching frost on the fence wire on the way out. Most of the neighbors along this route are a field apart, and the plow visits every one of them anyway.
