Fairview keeps more of its original pioneer cabins standing than most towns its size, a row of log and rock relic homes near the museum that draws a steady trickle of visitors even in winter, and MKJ Construction's crews know those narrow old lots as well as they know the newer builds going up on the edges of town. A storm off the Wasatch Plateau tends to drop snow evenly across both, but the old lots have narrower walks and steeper old stone steps that need clearing by hand rather than machine. MKJ works both ends of that job — a loader on the wide new driveways, shovels and salt on the century-old walkways downtown. The valley's cold holds through most of the morning here, so ice on a north-facing step can outlast the snow that caused it by days. Keeping both kinds of property passable is really one job split two ways.
