Late August in Draper builds its weather in the afternoon: thunderheads stacking over Lone Peak, a hard push of wind off the mountain, twenty minutes of rain, then a sky rinsed clean. Grass Guardians works the weeks around those storms — mowing high through the heat, edging the walks, trimming what the mower cannot reach — so a bench lawn comes out of the hottest month still standing. Grass here is a kept thing, never a given; the sun is close, the soil is thin over gravel, and the whole difference is in the tending. The turn of the mower at the end of a row and the stripe laid down straight are the parts worth doing right.
