Big Lou's Yard Care

About Big Lou's Yard Care

Follow the highway south out of Brigham City and the shoulder fills with fruit stands — peaches, cherries, the orchard rows warming by ten in the morning. Big Lou's Yard Care keeps its own kind of harvest going in July, when Box Elder County lawns want cutting twice as fast as anybody expects. The round is mowing, trimming around fences and mailboxes, edging the walk, and hauling the cuttings off so the driveway looks swept. A yard ought to feel cooler than the street on a hot afternoon, and a good cut is most of how that happens. From the benches above town down to the flats, the route runs the way the fruit does — one stop after another, straight through the summer.
