Highway 89 carries most of Bountiful's morning commute down off the bench, and Rubicon runs its plow routes in the hour before that traffic starts, when a decision to go out early or wait can mean the difference between a clear road and a packed one. The crew works the feeder streets that empty onto 89 first, then loops back through the residential blocks once the main routes are down to pavement. A storm that stalls over the valley overnight can leave two inches or ten by six a.m., and there's no waiting to find out which — the truck goes out either way.
