Mill Creek comes down out of the canyon and threads straight through the middle of Bountiful, and the yards nearest it green up a week ahead of everything else. Miller Landscaping starts its year along that corridor — beds cut back and remulched, low spots regraded where winter runoff pooled, sod patched into the bare ground the melt left behind. Then the mowing settles into its weekly cadence, with trimming and edging keeping the boundary between lawn and planting honest all season. Work like this is mostly invisible when it's done right; you notice only that the yard drains, grows and stops where it should. Standing in a finished lot on a mild May afternoon, with the canyon breeze coming down cool over fresh mulch, is the part of the job worth showing up for.
