About Plow Busters

American Fork sits where its namesake river spills out of the canyon and Mount Timpanogos throws its long shadow over the valley floor, and Plow Busters runs its routes while that shadow is still black with night. The canyon mouth breathes cold air down into town long before the plateau above it lets go of its own snow, so driveways here freeze hard and fast. The crew works Main Street's side streets and the newer culs-de-sac toward the lake in the same dark hour, blade down, salt spreader humming, until every driveway they've touched shows bare asphalt edge to edge. There's a particular satisfaction in beating the school run — in knowing a whole block woke up to a clean path to the car. By the time commuters pull out onto State Street, the night's work is already finished, and Timpanogos is just catching its first light.
