254 Lawns

About 254 Lawns

Woodway sits on high ground west of the Brazos, its streets curving along the ridge above Lake Waco. In April the Bermuda comes out of dormancy all at once, and 254 Lawns starts the season in earnest with mowing, edging and trimming week after week as the days stretch out. Central Texas turf rewards consistency more than anything else; miss two cuts in spring and you are wading. A yard held at the right height, its edges cut clean where turf meets concrete, reads as cared for from the curb. The route runs through Woodway and Hewitt, on to Robinson and into Waco.
