There is a half hour before sunrise in Whitehouse when the sky over the rooftops turns exactly the blue this outfit is named for, and the bermuda is so heavy with dew it looks silver. Blue Heaven Lawns likes that hour — the trailer ramp down, the air still cool enough to work in, the town not quite up. Mowing, edging and trimming go quickest before the heat, and by the time the sun clears the treetops a yard can already be cut, its borders taken back off the concrete and its clippings cleared away. Later in the day the same lawn holds the pattern, stripes lying east to west across the front. It is ordinary work, done early, all over Whitehouse and out toward Noonday and Flint.
