Wharton Turf-Grass

About Wharton Turf-Grass

At noon in July the light comes down flat and white over Wharton and even the grass along the levee stops moving. Wharton Turf-Grass reads that heat the way a farmer reads a gauge — mow a notch higher, water deep and early, and let the turf shade its own roots through the worst of the afternoon. The lawn work is mowing on a schedule, edges kept honest, trimming close, and turfgrass for ground that has gone bare. Come evening the yard is deep green again, thick enough to hold a footprint for a second before it stands back up. Wharton and its neighboring towns are where the mowers run.
