About Tim The Lawnmower Man

After a hard rain the playas out past Tulia fill up and hold the sky flat on their surfaces, and for about a week everything in Swisher County grows like it has something to prove. Tim The Lawnmower Man meets that surge head-on — mowing, edging, trimming, and clearing the cuttings so a yard does not drown in its own good fortune. Summer evenings here run long and easy, the turbines turning slow on the horizon, and the best time to look at a freshly cut lawn is right about then. The satisfaction is plain: even stripes, a sharp line where grass meets concrete, and nothing left on the sidewalk. Come dry weeks or wet ones, the mower keeps its appointment.
