Start with the ground. In The Colony it runs sandy in the old Cross Timbers stretches and heavier where the prairie edges in, and grass behaves differently on each. Lawn & Landcare works from there — mowing at a height the turf can hold, edging so the concrete keeps its line, trimming where blades cannot go, weeding beds and laying mulch to keep the soil covered through a hot summer. Shrubs get cut back on their season, leaves come off in the fall, and the yard gets cleaned rather than merely cut. Care for the land and the lawn follows; that is the whole method.
