Turf It

About Turf It

The first mow of March is the one people remember — the frost risk finally past, bluebonnets showing on the FM road shoulders outside Terrell, and lawns waking up uneven and shaggy all at once. Turf It starts the year there, knocking down winter growth, redrawing the edges along drives and walks, trimming out the fence lines that got away over the cold months. From then on it's a weekly rhythm through the long green season, mower, edger, trimmer, blower, and gone. There's a particular satisfaction in that first cut, when a yard goes from neglected-looking to sharp in under an hour. The rounds carry through fall, ending with leaves hauled off and the turf left clean for its rest.
