Parker Endeavors

About Parker Endeavors

Late winter in Stonewall is the Hill Country stripped to its frame: vineyards along the highway pruned back to bare knuckles, the cedar elms leafless and still, and frost silvering the pastures where the Herefords of the LBJ Ranch graze. Parker Endeavors is a lawn care business in this quiet valley town, and February is when a careful hand sets the year up right. Dormant grass gets cleaned up and cut back, beds are cleared of the winter's tangle, and edges are restored before spring rushes in. It is unglamorous work done in cold, bright air, and its reward comes weeks later, when the first green shows along the fencerows and the yard is already in step. There is a particular pride in being early, in having everything ready before the valley wakes.
