The Lawn Salon

About The Lawn Salon

A lawn, like a good haircut, is mostly a matter of the line, where the green stops and the concrete begins. The Lawn Salon takes that seriously in the July heat of Stephenville, when the courthouse square goes still around two in the afternoon and the only sound on a residential block is a mower working its way down a slope. Edging along the drive, a close trim under the fence rail, clippings swept back off the walk instead of left to scatter: small decisions that add up to a yard with a shape to it. The rounds run through town and out toward Dublin and Bluff Dale, one property at a time, tidied up before the shadows get long. A Texas summer gives grass every excuse to sprawl, and the answer is simply to keep showing up and keep it in hand.
