Scott's Manicured Lawns

About Scott's Manicured Lawns

Come fall, the cotton fields around Springlake go white to the horizon, the strippers run late into the evening, and the modules line up along the turn rows like freight waiting on a train. Scott's Manicured Lawns keeps yards in this small Lamb County town, out where the sunsets get the whole sky to themselves. Harvest season is busy and dusty, and a lawn kept close and even through it, edges squared and clippings blown off the walk, is a welcome bit of calm after a long day in the field. The grass cools quickly once the sun sinks, and the light lies flat and orange across a fresh cut. Out here, where neighbors are few but every pickup slows to wave, a yard kept just so is a kind of greeting.
