About 77388 Lawn

A ZIP code turns out to be a decent map of a day's work. The 77388 runs the western side of Spring, and 77388 Lawn keeps to it — the cul-de-sacs off Louetta, the long back fence lines, the small front yards under water oaks that shed in a slow trickle all winter long. Mowing here starts early in the year and quits late; the Gulf keeps the grass ambitious, so a sharp blade and a straight pass do most of the arguing. Edges are cut clean along the walk, the trimmer goes around every post and mailbox, and the driveway is clear before the trailer gate closes. Nothing exotic about it — just a neighborhood, taken street by street until it looks like itself.
